OneNote & SkyDrive

I always save my OneNote notebooks to my SharePoint mysite. Since I also have some personal notebooks which I use on multiple machines I was looking for a solution that didn't require me to save those notebooks to the corporate network.

I found out that OneNote in combination with Skydrive is really amazing.

What Skydrive is? Skydrive is a free product from Microsoft which gives you 25gb of storage online. You can put your office documents here, but also OneNote files.

Go to skydrive.com to create a account and click new and select onenote-notebook.

Give the notebook a name, in this example I will call it demo. SkyDrive will open the file in the online OneNote Web App.

It is great to alway have your notebook available without the need of installing the full blown OneNote client. When clicking open in OneNote the notebook opens in OneNote, hence the name.

The great thing is that it is really easy to share notebooks and keep the notebook in sync across your computers.

To make the synchronisation faster and easier Microsoft offers a single sign on tool:

Just click on install in the yellow bar and follow the setup.
